decaf – poem – D.e.e.L

how often do we watch raindrops fall?
how often do we run?
how often do we stand and listen
to the drops creating symphony?

drink coffee and run
bourbon to soften

the raindrops race too
if you pay attention
even their beauty engulfs those like it

raindrops sounding like wind through tree branches
the lights shine and the window becomes a stage
such a simple show
beauty so easily forgotten
as we’re too busy to watch
too busy to experience the rain

drink less bourbon and more tea
