Can’t Swim – Poetry by Dan Leicht (D.e.e.L)

– Poetry by D.e.e.L (Aug 2014)

somewhere she’s listening
laughing at a song i wrote years ago
recorded by the same speaker as my article notes
“The Great Crust Crisis”
a terrible title, probably explains why i didn’t get the job
she’s in London now, sitting it a chair
her hair almost touching the ground as she leans back to laugh
he’s sitting across from her wiping tears from his eyes
both of them hysterical

here. a new speaker to tell a tale
new lyrics to the song
the words come out in a different order
placing my heart a sea apart from hers
