Michael Crichton’s posthumous novel scooped up for the screen

After the success of Jurassic World, Michael Crichton’s posthumous novel Micro will also be adapted for the big screen.

book-microMicro was left unfinished upon Crichton’s death in 2008. Using Crichton’s notes and research, author Richard Preston later completed the novel and it was published by HarperCollins in 2011. The book was a massive success, spending over 20 weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list. The movie rights were acquired by Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks studios just as Jurassic World is on its way to being the highest-grossing film of 2015.

Fans of the Jurassic franchise should be ready to get transported to familiar territory. Before his death, Crichton described Micro as, “an adventure story like Jurassic Park.” Spielberg also adds that, “For Michael, size did matter whether it was for Jurassic’s huge dinosaurs or Micro infinitely tiny humans.” The techno-thriller follows a group of graduate students hired to work for a…
